Uniting with Historic Tours of America to Support the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center

This week, Suburban Propane united with Historic Tours of America in a momentous announcement to proudly extend support to the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center (LMCC) in St. Augustine, Florida. This collaboration commemorates Black History Month and plays a vital role in preserving the rich tapestry of African American history.

Situated in the Lincolnville Historic District, the neighborhood was founded by formerly enslaved individuals in 1866. The LMCC has been instrumental in preserving and celebrating the town’s prolific African American history for nearly two decades. LMCC achieves this through numerous channels, including art, educational programs, lectures, live performances, oral histories, and immersive exhibits.

In early February, the City will introduce an 80-foot trolley stop at the LMCC to enhance accessibility for visitors, including those embarking on Historic Tours of America’s renowned orange and green Old Town Trolley Tours. Visitors can explore the museum and delve into the rich historical importance of the Lincolnville District. Notably, this district holds immense importance as it played a pivotal role in the City’s early development and contributed significantly to the Nation’s Civil Rights Movement.

The endeavor is part of Suburban Propane’s SuburbanCares initiatives which support community efforts across the United States. Suburban Propane and Historic Tours of America representatives held a check presentation and a brief speaking program at the museum. This collaboration aims to provide essential funding to support the LMCC’s continued mission of sharing the vibrant cultural heritage of St. Augustine’s African American community.

“We are honored to once again join forces with Suburban Propane, this time to support the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center,” said Piper Smith, Vice President of Marketing, at Historic Tours of America. “Through this collaboration, we aim to contribute to the vibrant culture of St. Augustine and highlight the impact of African American history on the nation’s oldest continuously inhabited settlement.”

As the nation’s storyteller, Historic Tours of America offers unforgettable and enlightening journeys across the country, enabling guests to explore the captivating narratives that have influenced our nation’s history. The widely recognized orange and green Old Town Trolley Tours utilize Suburban Propane for 90% of its fleet due to the high efficiency, durability, and clean energy of propane.
