S’mores are a summertime staple loved by all generations. The classic s’more is honey graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate. But there is no need to stop there! We’re sharing some ways to elevate your s’mores game and be the envy of the neighborhood!
The base. Graham crackers will always have their place, but the easiest upgrade is to swap regular graham with chocolate graham crackers. That extra little hint of chocolate makes a big impact on your taste buds. You can also switch out graham crackers for chocolate chip cookies, chocolate or vanilla sandwich cookies, shortbread cookies, speculoo cookies, brownies, blondies, crispy cereal treats, waffles, and donuts.
The gooey layer. Regular marshmallows roasted over an open flame are wonderful on their own and are the gold standard with s’mores. Think outside the basic marshmallow and add amazing ingredients such as: chocolate stuffed marshmallows, coconut marshmallows, peanut butter, chocolate spread, hazelnut spread, almond butter, cookie dough, bananas, strawberries, apple slices… the possibilities are endless.
The richness. Maybe the best layer of the s’more. There is nothing wrong with the average milk chocolate bar, but why limit yourself when there are such delectable choices out there? Dark chocolate bars, white chocolate bars, cookies and cream chocolate bars, caramel filled chocolate bars… the selection of chocolate bars are endless! Don’t overlook peppermint patties, chocolate peanut butter candies, and chocolate covered wafer bars.
The extras. Other extras to include: pretzels, potato chips, cereal, sprinkles, bacon, sea salt, coconut flakes, cinnamon, or chili powder.
